The Norwegian Biodiversity Information Centre (NBIC) is responsible for assessing the ecological impact of alien species on Norwegian nature.

Alien species can be a threats against biodiversity in Norway. Species like american mink (Neovison vison), canada goose (Branta canadensis), red king crab (Paralithodes camtschaticus) or garden lupin (Lupinus polyphyllus) are examples of established alien species that have a negative effect on biodiversity.

The Norwegian Biodiversity Information Centre is responsible for assessing the ecological impact of alien species regularly. The last overwiew of such assessments, the Alien Species List, was released in June 2018.
