The family Sericostomatidae is represented in Norway by two genera, each with a single species.

The species are medium sized with comparatively narrow wings. The larvae inhabit streams and rivers with sandy or silty beds and generally live buried in the sediment. They build slightly curved, portable cases using small, flat sand grains joined edge to edge, so that they create a smooth case surface.
