The family Psychomyiidae is represented in Norway by four species in three genera.

The species are small with rather wide forewings. The larvae inhabit small and large streams and rivers and stony lake shores. They construct fixed, tubular shelters using silky secretion and incorporating tiny mineral particles or wood fibers.
