The Great Green Bush-cricket is one of the largest Norwegian Orthopterans. The body is green, with a brown dorsal stripe on the head, pronotum and part of the wings. The wings are very long.

The species lives in trees, shrubs and tall herbs. The male often sits high in the vegetation and sings. The strong, chirping song can be heard up to a distance of more than 100 meters. The species is fairly common in central parts of the Østlandet region and along the coast of the Sørlandet region. It does not go far inland.
