Key facts

At least up to 20 cm long and up to 10 mm wide. Body short, stout, and flattened. Head broadly rounded on anterior margin with numerous very small eyes arranged in two diffuse groups on either side of head. Colour brownred with ventral side paler. Two white spots on each side of head appears, and the outermost anterior part of head can also bear white. Two pairs of furrows are visible. Anterior pair divided, slightly bowshaped and lighter than body, leaving the appearance of  ”dimples”. Posterior pair forms a V-shape pointing backwards. Furrows meet on ventral side and are connected through the longitudinal mouthslit.
